Return of the cake

Monty Lit Fest is developing a reputation for all sorts of things, but one thing is clear: no-one has forgotten the fabulous array of cakes provided by local community groups at the Town Hall last year.

Authors who were with us then are still Tweeting about it. People have been asking whether the cake will be back. So, we’re especially grateful that those community groups are stepping up again this year to provide refreshments in the Town Hall on the Saturday and Sunday of the Festival.

It’s all part of making Monty Lit Fest as friendly and accessible as possible, rooted in and for our local communities. We want to encourage people who have never been to a literary festival before to give us a go. That’s why our programme has something for everyone – from the usual fiction and non-fiction-based fare to our Late Lounge, Quiz Night and, of course, our session with rugby legend, Nigel Owens.

And there’ll be plenty of buzz in the town, too, with a whole host of free community events from a poetry-themed art exhibition and children’s storytelling to street food vans, music and busking.

Not to mention the cake.

Go on, take a look at our programme.

Tickets are available online or in person at The Montgomery Bookshop and Ivy House Café in Montgomery.
