Monty Lit Fest 2025 is here!

It’s here!

Monty Lit Fest 2025 takes place this weekend, 6th – 8th June, in the beautiful town of Montgomery.

We’re all set for a fabulous weekend of bookish fun. It’s the chance to meet and hear from authors about their books and their work, have a go yourself at our writers’ workshops, watch the Mr Burton film or just join us for a pint at our Late Lounge or Saturday night quiz.

There’s still time to plan your weekend – but hurry: tickets are selling fast.  Take a look at our programme here

So, what will you choose?

  • Will you bring your kids along to our first Jill Kibble Monty Mini Fest for stories, drawing and fun with some brilliant storytellers, authors and illustrators (there will be stickers!)?
  • Or get your fill of award-winning fiction authors at the top of their game, whether you’d like to hear from Jonathan Coe or Carys Davies or have your own Super Sunday with Annie Garthwaite, Angharad Price and Caryl Lewis
  • Take a walk through Wales with Andrew Green; travel the coast with Roger Morgan-Grenville and Matthew Yeomans, and go birdwatching with Jon Gower
  • Or kick back at our Late Lounge with our resident host, Rhys Mwyn, this year in conversation with top music write, Jon Savage
  • Talk borders – on the map and in our heads and hearts – with Mike Parker and Sioned Wiliam
  • Meet the inaugural National Poet of Wales, Gwyneth Lewis, who will be talking about her memoir, Nightshade Mother
  • Catch up with the past with a Saturday afternoon devoted to the Rebecca Riots, the Cleopatras and ace Tudor spy, Robert Cecil
  • Join Russ Williams and Owen Staton for a Welsh folklore road trip
  • Pit your wits against quizmaster Marcus Berkmann at that Saturday night quiz
  • Hear all about actor Richard Burton’s muse, Philip Burton – and then watch the film, Mr Burton
  • Or hone your craft at our two FREE writers’ workshops.

And while you’re with us, make sure you visit our art exhibition, listen to some music and readings and enjoy the food and drink that will be on offer all weekend.

Welcome to Monty Lit Fest 2025.

Tickets are available online, or in person at The Montgomery Bookshop or Ivy House Café in Montgomery and, over the weekend itself, at the Festival’s ticket desk in Montgomery Town Hall.  .
