What a start we had to Monty Lit Fest 2022.
As the sun shone on a beautiful June evening, we were treated to three completely different – but all equally brilliant – sessions that spoke to the heart of what Monty Lit Fest is all about: celebrating the written word in all its forms.
In the Dragon’s Den at the Dragon Hotel, Myfanwy Alexander, Bethan Gwanas and Sioned Wiliam kicked off this year’s Festival with a Welsh language session on the joys and challenges of writing sequels.
Next up was Frieda Hughes, who delighted a packed Town Hall audience with a masterful mix of her poetry and stories.
Then we kicked back at our Late Lounge, where Claire Mahoney and Rhys Mwyn spoke passionately about the music – and the mod and punk sub-cultures – that changed their lives and continue to resonate with them today.
What a pleasure it was to hear from such brilliant writers who do so much to enhance our lives.
Days Two and Three promise even more wonders, with a packed programme of events celebrating everything from crime and historical fiction to poetry, history, food and farming.
See you there!
