It’s just one week to go to Monty Lit Fest 2024 and it’s time to pay tribute to our communities, without whom the Festival simply couldn’t take place.<\/p>

We’re not known as the friendly Festival for nothing. Volunteer led and run, we rely on the support and goodwill of so many people in the communities of Montgomeryshire and the Borders \u2013 and beyond \u2013 to make the magic happen.<\/p>

So, as we count down to our 2024 weekend, here are just some of the people we’d like to pay tribute to.\u00a0<\/p>

We’d like to pay tribute to <\/em>\u00a0our funders and sponsors, whose generosity helps us to offer such a wide-ranging programme and keep ticket prices down. So a huge thank you to: Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture; Charlies; Luned and David Corser; The Dragon Hotel, Montgomery; EvaBuild; FieldMouse Research; Harrisons; Brett Kibble; Literature Wales; Menter Maldwyn; The Montgomeryshire Society; Whitehall Dairy; WPG and Write Within.\u00a0<\/p>

We’d like to pay tribute to<\/em> our authors and interviewers who are prepared to give us a go, whether they\u2019re local or travelling big distances to be with us and share their stories.<\/p>

We’d like to pay tribute to<\/em> the people of Montgomery who provide such a welcoming home for the Festival and so much practical support: from the community events<\/a> that will create such a buzz over the weekend to the logistics of venues and parking and so much more \u2013 including, of course, the now-famous cake in the Town Hall itself. And what other literary festival is opened every day by a resident town crier?\u00a0<\/p>

We’d like to pay tribute to<\/em> our Festival booksellers, Booka<\/a> and The Bookshop, Montgomery \u2013 and all the other booksellers across our region who play such a crucial role in championing the written word.<\/p>

We’d like to pay tribute to<\/em> our committee of volunteers who plan, promote and champion what we do.<\/p>

We’d like to pay tribute to<\/em> everyone who has bought a ticket, will buy a ticket or will just turn up on the day.<\/p>

Thank you all. We really couldn\u2019t do it without you.<\/p>
