How far would any of us be prepared to walk for a cause we feel strongly about?<\/p>\n

In Roger Morgan-Grenville’s case, that’ll be the length of the British Isles, 1,000 miles from the south coast of England to the far north coast of Scotland. His mission is to raise money for Curlew Action, the charity dedicated to a more secure future for at-risk curlews – and to educating people about the environment and biodiversity they need to thrive. As we type, he’s well on his way, trekking through the Highlands in the final days of what has been an incredible journey.<\/p>\n

There’s plenty of time yet to make a contribution<\/a> to the cause, especially as today is World Curlew Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Conservation and biodiversity are also themes that inform Roger’s most recent writing, which explores the very serious \u2013 and complex \u2013 crises we\u2019re facing in the natural world with writing that\u2019s also entertaining, personal and the very opposite of preachy or didactic. As he’s walked, he has also collected stories from a range of biodiversity projects and initiatives that he’ll be weaving into his next book.<\/p>\n

We can hear all about Roger’s epic journey at Monty Lit Fest on Sunday 12th June at 3.00pm<\/a>. In conversation with his literary agent, Clare Grist Taylor, he will also be telling us about Taking Stock<\/em>, his new 2022 book that looks at man\u2019s second-best friend: the cow.\u00a0 It\u2019s time, according to Roger, that someone told their side of the story. We’ll also be taking stock of his writing life and how he has developed into a full-time writer and campaigner.<\/p>\n

As a keen amateur cricketer, Roger will also be joining Marcus Berkmann for our literary cricket tea<\/a> at 4.30pm on Sunday 12th June.<\/p>\n
