The\u00a0 fifth annual Monty Lit Fest art exhibition celebrates the breadth of creative talent across Montgomeryshire. The showcase brings together artists and makers working in painting, textiles, photography, sculpture and more, reflecting the richness and diversity of the local arts scene.<\/span><\/p>

This year\u2019s theme is nature, inviting audiences to explore artistic responses to landscape, wildlife and the changing environment, and revealing the many ways creativity is inspired by the world around us.<\/p>

Children’s tree art workshop
<\/strong>with Alex Harbron and Lucie Smith-Davies<\/strong><\/h5>

Montgomery Activity Centre

Age 5+ <\/em><\/p>

Young artists, accompanied by a parent, are invited to join local landscape artists Alex Harbron and Lucie Smith-Davies for this special art workshop inspired by the ogham tree calendar. In June, the Oak tree has special significance, marking the middle of the year and a doorway to inner strength. Artists will learn to use leaves, twigs, seeds and even ink, all sourced from an oak tree, to create a wonderful image of the tree and its roots. Materials provided. Booking is essential as places are limited.<\/p>

Family workshop: nature gelli printing
with Catherine Jones<\/strong><\/h5><\/div>

Montgomery Activity Centre
<\/em>Saturday, 13th June, 3.00-4.00pm\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

This family workshop is designed to fit perfectly\u00a0 with the natural world theme of the Festival’s art exhibition. Please, if you possibly can, bring: some leaves with you that are pliable but have good veins (plants like sage, buddleia, cranesbill geraniums are particularly good); a good apron (or wear old clothes- an old shirt is perfect), and a pack of baby wipes (essential for keeping your equipment as well as you clean) and come and spend a fun hour playing with colour.<\/p>

Gelli printing uses acrylic paint rolled onto a rubbery plate. We then put leaves on it and take prints. The first time you do it, it is SO exciting and all ages are spellbound by this addictive form of monoprinting.<\/p>

It’s a great family activity suitable for Reception age children to the retired so from reception age. It’s not suitable for pre-schoolers unless you work as a parent with one child. Please don’t try to supervise a pre-schooler and another child.<\/p>

Please make sure you read the blurb on the booking page so you know what to bring and the ratios for younger children. It’s messy but the best of fun!\u00a0Gelli printing workshops have a habit of selling out so book early for a fabulous time.<\/p>

Inspired by nature: an art\/textiles workshop
with Catherine Jones<\/strong><\/h5>

The Computer Room,\u00a0 The Montgomery Institute
Sunday 14th June, 1.30-3.30pm<\/em><\/p>

Enjoy a relaxing couple of hours using first some background watercolours, and then bits and bobs of textiles and embroidery to create a landscape – or use flowers and foliage as your inspiration.<\/p>

This workshop is suitable for everyone: you don’t need experience in embroidery or watercolours to create something lovely. Catherine will be on hand to show you stitches and techniques if you want to learn more.\u00a0Bring some photos or pictures to use as a starting point for your creative journey.\u00a0All materials are provided but if you have some fabric, lace, buttons or beads you’d like to incorporate please do bring them along.<\/p>

Under 14s need to have an accompanying adult with them.\u00a0Maximum of 9 students so please book early.\u00a0<\/p>
