Sarn Helen – Helen’s Causeway,\u00a0 the old Roman Road that runs from the south of Wales to the north –\u00a0 has long held a fascination for Radnorshire writer, Tom Bullough. Finally, searching for some air and space in the wake of the Covid pandemic, he made his way to Neath to take the first few tentative steps along the route. From this first journey came the realisation that the road was the perfect chance to explore and write about his home country. The result is Sarn Helen.<\/em><\/p>

Hear from Tom as he talks about the politics, culture and myths of the landscape he walks through; the people he meets and the likely impact of the climate crisis on the Welsh landscape and coastline \u2013 a vivid sense of the way in which we are shaped by place and in turn shape our places, potentially irrevocably.<\/p>

Tom Bullough<\/strong> grew up on a hill farm in Radnorshire. He is the author of four novels and, most recently,\u00a0Sarn Helen: a Journey Through Wales, Past, Present and Future<\/em>, an award-winning call to action on the climate and ecological emergency. Tom’s teaching work includes the \u201cClimate, Writing and the Living World\u201d course at Black Mountains College. At present, he is the Story Associate at Hay Castle, Hay-on-Wye. He lives in Bannau Brycheiniog with his children, a collie and a goldfish.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
