Can you remember the first time you encountered true darkness, the kind that remains black and inky whether your eyes are open or closed?<\/p>

Jacqueline Yallop can, and ever since she has been fascinated by the dark, by our efforts to capture or avoid it, by the meanings we give to it and the way our brains process it. The result is her latest book, Into the Dark<\/em>.<\/p>

In conversation with Jon Gower, Jacqueline will take us on a journey into the dark secrets of place, body and mind, exploring both the physical realities of darkness and the psychological dark that helps shape us. It promises to be a brilliant insight into our ever-changing love-hate relationship with darkness and why, in all its guises and mysteries, it continues to fascinate and assail us.<\/p>

Jacqueline Yallop<\/strong> is an award-winning author of fiction and creative non-fiction. Her latest book,\u00a0Into the Dark<\/em>, looks at darkness in all its forms. Her novel,\u00a0Obedience<\/em>\u00a0was nominated for the Man Booker Prize and\u00a0Big Pig Little Pig<\/em>\u00a0a memoir, was Radio 4 Book of the Week. Her work has been translated into several languages. She currently teaches Creative Writing at the University of Aberystwyth, where she is based.<\/p>

Jon Gower<\/strong>\u00a0has over forty books to his name, in Welsh and English, including 2023\u2019s The Turning Tide: A Biography of the Irish Sea<\/em>, and Y Diwedd<\/em>, which completes his Welsh language crime trilogy, published in 2022. He is also the author of The Story of Wales<\/em>\u00a0which accompanied the landmark BBC series,\u00a0An Island Called Smith<\/em>\u00a0which gained the John Morgan Travel Writing Award, and\u00a0Y Stor\u00efwr<\/em>\u00a0which won the Wales Book of the Year award.\u00a0\u00a0He is a former BBC Wales arts and media correspondent and was for many years the presenter of Radio Wales\u2019 arts\u2019 programme\u00a0First Hand<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
