Internationally renowned harpist David Watkins, who lives in the north of Montgomeryshire, will be performing a lunchtime concert at Monty Lit Fest on Saturday 15th June.
David’s career began while he was still at school as a member of the National Youth Orchestra and also finalist in a Daily Mirror competition for young instrumentalists. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music and in Paris, he was selected to play with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, under the baton of Solti. David was a founder member of the Welsh National Opera Company and later played with the Royal Philharmonic and the London Philharmonic.
As a soloist, David has performed with many distinguished orchestras around the world, including performances of his own compositions. David regularly gives concerts and masterclasses in France, Germany, Italy and the UK, as well as continuing to work on his own compositions, new recordings, and relearning different playing styles.
